In the Australian Shepherd breed, there are multiple registries that recognize the breed. Those being AKC, ASCA, ASDR, NSDR and more.

Now the Australian Shepherd varies in size depending on the breeder and their program but there are registries like ASCA that classify standard as the only size for Australian Shepherds and will revoke papers if they are registered elsewhere as toy or miniature. AKC does not recognize size variation but does allow the dog to be registered elsewhere.
